How to Pack a Gym Bag Like a Fit Pro

Ladies, don’t sweat it!  I got your back…errrhh, I mean bag:)

As a fitness professional, I often get asked what’s in my gym bag (possibly because it’s the weight of a kettle bell) mainly because most people new to carrying a gym bag are trying to figure out what the essentials are.  I tend to carry too much “stuff” with me because I can have long days of jumping between classes, training clients, getting my own workout in, or meeting up with a fellow business partner to get work done at a cafe.  I need everything in one bag therefore I purchased a really good quality large gym bag from Apera a few years ago and it’s still in perfect condition, even after everyday use! Here are my essential items that I need in my bag at all times:

  • Water bottle, refillable in case I run out
  • Sweat towel, always dark colors so it won’t get makeup stains
  • Snacks, like nuts, fruits or meal replacement shake or bar
  • Supplements for pre, during or post workout
  • Headphones
  • Body wipes/sanitizers to clean up with after
  • Face wipes
  • Perfumes/cologne
  • Deodorant – mini stick or spray
  • Hair brush
  • Makeup, such as BB/CC Cream, lip gloss and mascara
  • Hair band/sweat band/hair ties – I love the dri-sweat brand from Walmart
  • Folder for my workout notes and sheets
  • Workout accessories: bands/gloves

Here are my additional everyday items that I include since my gym bag is also my work bag and hand bag most days:

  • Umbrella
  • Laptop and notepad
  • Sunglasses
  • Wallet

Extras that may be needed if you are showering at the gym:

  • Sneakers
  • Change of clothes
  • Plastic bags for sweaty clothes
  • Hair powder
  • Flip flops for the shower
  • Additional toiletries like body wash or shampoo
  • Extra pair of socks or undies
